April 2015 - Playoffs, Power Words, 100+ Who Care, and SALES!

Good Morning, Happy Friday! 


Hey sports fans - the Blackhawks & Bulls are playoff-ing and the Cubbies are (kinda) winning - I'll take it!  As usual, lots of Spring activity in the city, but I've been busy elsewhere.  I was fortunate this month to visit a couple of my favorite places -  Bell's brewery in Kalamazoo for some freshly-tapped Oberon, and two trips to Colorado (one business, one pleasure).  During my leisure trip out west, I saw my first game at Coors Field for opening day against the Cubbies (who unfortunately lost that one).  


I feel blessed to be out every day meeting an eclectic group of people and businesses.  This monthly digest reflects my journey through sharing new sales & business ideas, Chicagoland happenings, new music for your soundtrack, and other things that caught my eye along the way.  I always appreciate your replies, thoughts, and ideas  - as well as taking time out to enjoy it.

Sales Beat
 
Over the last six months I've been following author/speaker John Spence.  In a recent blog he gives his recipe for sales success.  Competence + Concern + Curiosity x Character = Sales Success.  Love it - read more about the principles here.  

Word choice.  It's so critical in the world of sales.  You must choose wisely, as the most subtle tweaks can mean the difference between winning and losing a long-term relationship.  Read this article about 13 different phrasing options that could help you sound sharp & articulate, as opposed to sales-y and condescending.

This art exhibit blew my mind.  You can find this Chicago-based artist's work at her Superior St. studio.  In a nutshell, she can recreate a face by finding DNA off a piece of chewed gum on the sidewalk - CRAZY!
